Kloofvale Fruit 023 316 482

Quality, assured at every step.

Checked before it is picked, while it is packed and before it ships, to the standards of the world's most demanding markets.

Quality assurance

Every carton is graded and packed to specification and checked against strict protocols before it ships.

We test fruit before it is picked, while it is packed and again before it is loaded, so the carton that lands abroad is the one the buyer ordered.

How we protect condition

Six stages stand between a picked orchard and a buyer's shelf, and condition can be lost at any one of them. Walk the chain to see what happens at each, and who signs it off.

Accredited orchards

Condition starts before anything is picked. A grower joins only after we have walked the farm, read the last audit and seen a season's packout, and the accreditations European and UK buyers expect as a baseline are set out here. SIZA is the South African programme for that, covering ethical labour practice alongside an environmental standard built on four areas: soil health, water management, energy and waste, and biodiversity.

Who audits
SIZA, the Sustainability Initiative of South Africa
Social side
Ethical labour practice, checked against local law and beyond it
Environmental side
Soil health, water, energy and waste, biodiversity
Related standard
GLOBALG.A.P., the standard for South African fruit sold to export and national retail
Efficiency
SIZA holds equivalency agreements with GLOBALG.A.P. and LEAF Marque, so one audit can satisfy more than one buyer requirement

Sustainability

Water, soil and people are audited on every farm that packs with us, and a grower who will not fix what the audit finds stops packing with us.

Producer Portal

A grower-partner does not wait on an email for the things that decide a season.

The portal keeps technical and market-access support in one place, so growers stay close to varietal development, market demand and the planning information a block needs before it is picked.

Technical support
Agronomic and packhouse guidance through the growing season
Market access
Where the fruit is going and what those buyers require
Varietal development
What is being planted next and how it performs
Season planning
Demand signals early enough to act on them

Confidence in every carton
